About Weekend To End Women‘s Cancers

The Shoppers Drug Mart ® Weekend to End Women’s Cancers is a two-day 60km walk, or a one-day 30km walk, bringing together thousands of women and men in support of the fight against women’s cancers. As research suggests a linkage between breast cancer and other cancers such as ovarian, The Weekend realized the need to expand and broaden the focus of the event to impact all women’s cancers. In 2009, 8,200 new cases of women’s cancers such as, cervical, endometrial and ovarian were diagnosed in Canada. VTN Maple Leaf Chapter Teams up with T-Shirtmonster to Raise Money for the Breast Cancer Society of Canada

Monday, March 8th, 2010

As many of you know, T-Shirtmonster proudly supports Breast Cancer Society of Canada! We’ve included a  press release from a company using our site to also raise money for Breast Cancer Society of Canada. If you (or anyone you know) would like to get involved in fundraising for breast cancer research, please let us know. Here’s the press release:

“Members of the VentureTech Network Maple Leaf Chapter organize new “Clicks for the Cure” fundraiser – Seeks support of the North American IT Community
________________________________________
Vaughn, Ontario, March X, 2010 – Ingram Micro’s VentureTech Network (VTN) Maple Leaf Chapter today announced a new charitable fundraising campaign to support the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. Clicks for the Cure is a not-for-profit fundraiser organized by the VTN Maple Leaf Chapter and supported by Ingram Micro Canada, the Breast Cancer Society of Canada and T-Shirtmonster.

In December 2009, the VTN Maple Chapter, which consists of 30 of Canada’s most successful IT solution providers, came together to launch “Maple Leaf Gives Back” – a new Chapter initiative that focuses on giving back to the Canadian community through charitable giving and fundraising efforts.

Clicks for the Cure is Maple Leaf Gives Back’s first not-for-profit fundraiser benefiting the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. By simply clicking and purchasing a t-shirt from the VTN Maple Leaf Chapter’s on-line gallery at http://www.tshirtmonster.ca/Designer/VTNMapleLeaf/, businesses and consumers alike can make a difference and contribute to the greater cause of breast cancer research.

According to Terry Buchanan, vice president and chief technology officer of CONPUTE and current president of the VTN Maple Leaf Chapter, one of the primary goals of this effort is to get more people and businesses involved in this national do-good initiative.

“Our community of IT solution providers is really good at supporting each other, but we also wanted to extend our reach and combined influence within the North American IT channel to help give back to a worthy cause,” says Buchanan. “From that vision, we created the Clicks for the Cure campaign to support the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.”

With advertisements and promotions on Facebook and LinkedIn, Buchanan anticipates Clicks for the Cure will gain a contagious momentum as a web-based campaign and exceed their expectations.

“With this initiative, we’re not only challenging other members of Ingram Micro’s VentureTech Network, but the IT industry at large to get involved and click for the cure,” says Buchanan.

“T-Shirtmonster is all about helping people to market and fundraise for their favourite causes and it’s great to be working with the VTN Maple Leaf Chapter on this exciting, new initiative,” says Roland Mackintosh, co-founder at T-Shirtmonster.ca. “By taking this initiative online, we’re making it easy for people and businesses to show their support for the Breast Cancer Society of Canada and feel good knowing that every purchase contributes to such a worthy cause”.

“The Breast Cancer Society of Canada is delighted to be chosen as the charity of choice for the VTN Maple Leaf Chapter’s Give Back initiative,” says Marsha Davidson, executive director of the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. “Together we can make a difference in the lives of many.”
