Come to Canada Superman T-Shirt

May 4th, 2011

When we read a recent article in the National Post entitled “Come to Canada Clark Kent” by Steve Murray, we got really excited! Here’s a re-print of the article and a t-shirt design especially for Clark Kent:

This Design was created by Steve Murray and can be puchased as is or brought into our Design Lab to be customized (add your own text or a photo, “Supermom” isn’t too late to order for Mother’s Day!). Note: 25% of the purchase of the above t-shirt is donated to The Hero Initiative

Steve Murray writes: “In a bold move last week, (i.e. something that slipped by all the higher-ups) DC Comics had Superman announce that he was renouncing his U.S. citizenship in the 900th issue of Action Comics, the series where the Man of Steel first appeared back in 1938.”

supermanHere are Steve’s Top Reason’s why Clark Kent should come to Canada:

” 1.  Superman’s home, the Fortress of Solitude, is usually located in icy, desolate areas, which we have in abundance. And, like Michael Moore so famously pointed out in Bowling for Columbine, Canadians don’t lock their doors, so Superman can finally ditch that giant yellow key nonsense.

2.  We love immigrants and Superman is the ultimate immigrant! Also, in Canada we respect traditional immigrant garb, so Superman’s Kryptonian-inspired super-snug ensemble is totally fine by us. We will not laugh at his outside-the-pants underwear choice. We swear.

3. When teens backpack through Europe they proudly display Canadian flag patches on their gear, even if they’re not from Canada. A couple of patches on Superman’s outfit and he’ll be totally welcomed everywhere, no longer a “tool of the American oppressors,” just “that nice man from Canada who shoots fire from his eyes.”

4. Superman was co-created by a Canadian, Joe Shuster! After 73 years of belonging to America, he could at least spend a year or two here. Out of respect for the man who first drew him.

5. A lot of Canadians work in the United States! Superman could totally keep his job at the Daily Planet. But, if he so chose to continue his journalistic career here in Canada, the Post is hiring (not really. Please don’t send us your résumé, Jimmy Olsen).

6. Superman was raised to be polite, which we value greatly here in Canada. Frankly, we were relieved when that potty-mouth Wolverine moved from Canada to the States. That guy has no manners.

This is clearly an idea whose time has come. I will forward this to the powers-that-be at DC Comics and see what they have to say about this. Probably, “yes, of course! What a great idea, Canada!” but I’d still like to hear them say it. Together we can give Superman a home. A Canadian one.”

Custom St. Patrick’s Day T-Shirts Top Pick this month on T-Shirtmonster

March 10th, 2011

Well, it’s official: The top selling customizable designs on T-Shirtmonster are coming from our St. Patrick’s Day Gallery. That means that if St. Patrick were to meander into any one of the North American pubs on March 17th, he’d probably see a lot of green and a lot of custom t-shirts from T-Shirtmonster looking like these:

Of course, St. Patrick, who died March 17th, 461, will only be with us in spirit…and he may have a wee chuckle knowing that sometime during the 17th Century, we decided to change his official colour of BLUE to GREEN. But that’s ok, if you want to print any St. Patrick’s Day T-Shirt Designs on BLUE apparel instead of GREEN, you can do it with the click of a button!

If you plan on participating in one of the largest celebrations in the world, send us a pic and we’ll send you some Irish cheer (note: we cannot send beer in the mail, but we promise it’ll be just as fun)!

Comic Sans Fonts the talk of the World

January 16th, 2011

We came across an interesting article from the Globe and Mail, about a recent experiment testing the effect “Comic Sans” font has on the brain. The experiment involved 222 students from an Ohio high school. Presentations were given in easy-to-read font as well as harder to read fonts, such as Comic Sans. Better grades were achieved by the students reading the harder fonts and the researchers suggest it’s because they were forced to concentrate more on the text. Hmmm…will all text books be printed in Comic Sans?

Here’s 3 new fonts that are available to use to create custom t-shirts:

Collegiate is perfect for making t-shirts for sports teams or clubs. 28 Days is great if you want to go for a grundge look, and Germanica Fluted is nice for creating custom t-shirts with that “once upon a time” theme! Have fun designing your custom t-shirts and remember to send us designs you’ve created that you’re really excited about!
